I am desperately in need for a P type cylinder head for my car. I have just found a seriously bad crack in number 3 combustion chamber and cracks in number 2 as well. It also has other valve seat issues. Someone had one for sale recently but I think it has already been sold.
Still looking for one. The one offered was unfortunately porous and beyond economic repair.

Hi Fred, I just saw your post for a cylinder head. It is sort of an effort, but if you simply can't find a head, I can cast iron weld your head and machine the seats. It is important that you have good head depth, otherwise it would not be worth the effort. Best, Chris |

Or try Cast Iron Welding: See http://www.castironwelding.co.uk/cast-iron-welding-process/ Look at the opening picture of the video entitled Heritage and Vintage welding. The man you should speak to is Harold Palmer who seems most helpful.
I have no connection other than being a potential customer. He has just quoted £425 +VAT for the repair of two deep crevices between the valves on No 2 & 3 cylinders including building up all 4 valve seats for subsequent re-machining. You will have to have some other machining carried out to bring the head back to a usable state of true. |

Hello Fred, I did e-mail you directly. I have a P Type head which has been under my bench for 50 years. It looks to be in perfect condition, except there is a very small blow hole in one inlet port. This does not appear go into the water jacket so could be easily repaired. Looks as if it was there since new. I cannot remember the history of this engine but think it was a PB, as I have found the centre crank case breather which was on the engine. I have a photo somewhere. Would you be interested?
