Hi, I purchased a photograph today at VSCC Silverstone and in the background of the car I was interested in, was another MG- registration BYK 340.The attached cropped image shows it as a MMM saloon, but not sure which model. Apparently taken 1946. Any information please. Thanks Keith

Hello Keith
BYK 340 is none other than KN0393 the splendid KN saloon which is one of two owned by Peter Prosser. Not only that, but both these cars have been retained in their original saloon form, not carved about to create a K3 r**li**!
Is the image you have posted just part of the complete picture? If so it would be nice to see all of it!
Here is a pic of KN0393 taken at the Brooklands MG Era day in 2013

Hi Dick, Thanks for the information. I had a feeling it was a KN, but wanted to check. Perhaps if Peter Prosser would like to contact me I can discuss the photo with him? I will not publish the complete photo just yet as I am researching the other car, but will do so in due course. Keith |

Thank you Peter, I will contact you direct. As stated, I will publish the full photograph here as soon as I have finished my research on the "other car" and surprised the current owner. Thanks for your understanding. Keith

As promised, the rest of the story and picture which included BYK 340, an M.G. KN saloon, now owned by Peter Prosser. In 1946 car was owned by a Mr S G Miskin of Somerset who competed in Trial with the car for the Lawrence Cup, Naish Hill & The Allan Trophy. Between 1972 and 1984 it was owned and used extensively by Peter Mace who currently owns a Mk I 18/80. The other car in the picture is a MkI M.G. 18/80, GU 8217 taken when it was in the ownership of Morgan Marshall in Bristol, but now safely in the hands of Peter Jones since 1988. The caption on the back reads, “on way to Naish Hill Climb, 1946”. This was a popular hill climb venue from 1938 until the 1970s when the M5 Motorway was constructed and cut the course in two. It was situated about 10 miles west of Bristol at Clapton-in-Gordano. (what a lovely evocative name) It would be interesting if anybody recognises the Tea Rooms, which were probably a regular stop for car enthusiasts in those days. Keith Herkes
