I hope I haven't scared anyone by putting "affordable"! I should say that I could stretch to the mid 20's but beyond that the coffers are empty. I am a genuine enthusiast, the first pre-war MG I saw was when my middle school teacher borrowed one from a friend of his and drove it in to school. This was the late 1970's! I believe it was a C type, I can't remember the registration number however the colour was red, it obviously made an impression. For every day transport my teacher drove a Morris Isis and then an A7, so I guess it is him I have to thank (or blame) for my interest in old cars however, I have no idea where my interest in Brooklands comes from!

Thank you for the positivity Colin! It would be nice to hope that I could be competing at Wiscombe in September.

I have a dismantled PA for £23,000 if that will do. I have started work on it, having sand-blasted the chassis and repainted it. I have also checked the gearbox interior and painted the cast iron. Currently I am finishing the work on the engine. I scrapped the swept wings as they were too rusty, also the bodywork rear of the doors which was rusty and worm-eaten as applicable. Mike Strong

Pretty good deal for that price! Unless of course the comma is in the wrong place!

Good Morning Jeremy, I purchased two dismantled and intermixed J2s ( one with Brooklands history )three years ago for £8000 ( which included £3500 worth of new spares from S & V )so projects are around, but there is an element of right time , right place and patience will provide a project J2 I am sure.

Yes, but Chris, surely you have been here long enough by now to realise what extremely good fortune that was. It is unlikely to be repeated...

You are right, however in that patience and perseverance will pay off, but lets be realistic about the likely cost, even of a 'project'.

Quite Right, yet an attempt was made to knock down the seller even further, I simply paid what the seller asked without question as I liked the look of the challenge and no more. Another early MG was for sale in the village here in Cyprus a couple of years ago, went for £7500, so they are still around for those who wait and lady luck is looking over their shoulder.

I just wanted to explain the reason that I have reduced the price of my PA is that owing to health problems, I am hoping to sell it before the weather gets too cold. (See the Cars for Sale section of this website.)

Admittedly this is a bit of a mongrel but might be an affordable way to get into something akin to Triple M motoring. For sale by a pal of mine, it is a 34 PA (I think) fitted with an engine and gearbox from a VA (again, I think). It is nicely finished and runs well. It would be *considerably* less than the real thing but would give enjoyable 'period' motoring...

Please do get in touch if you are interested..

Hugh
