This pic was on the Pre-War Register's Facebook page - taken 60 years ago when Roger Clayton Hartley had it. The reg is a Capetown one.
Roger cannot recall the car's ID - do any of our SA friends know this car, please?

Is that not a PA, rather than a PB? By the looks of the honeycomb grille and not the slats, it would seem to be PA.

Lew,
I think the front of the radiator shell is wire mesh not honeycomb.

From the Facebook page it seems it is the dynamo I quote "From Roger Clayton Hartley (one time owner) the bevel drive to the cam had been changed from the generator to a rod and the generator was mounted at the front of the engine like a mini super-charger"

I would never have thought about a dynamo ! Gerhard |

Many prewar Riley’s were fitted with dynamos mounted on the front and driven directly from the crankshaft.

Neither would I if hadn't seen the quote. Mind you, as Chris says, if I had been a Riley Man I might have.
