During the lock-down I have been been turning out cupboards and organising photos - which led to the discovery of a snap of Albert Cocks in an MG, in about 1937/8. The registration is AYD 462 and I would be interested to know what type and if it still exists.

I cannot find AYD462 at all in the printer register, the master database, or the North American Triple-M Register. Sorry, but it seems not to have survived.

Hello, is it possible that the model is a MG TA? Year of construction around mid-1936 to early 1939.

I’d hazard a guess at a P Type - curved door tops, semaphore indicators, typical P Type badge bar, opening in the front valance for the starting handle.

The offside rear wheel looks a bit unhappy, or is it photographic distortion.

Absolutely a PA 2 seater that looks like these folks are making it a four seater.
Ian, The rather robust lady may be distorting the rear axle, or the left rear is in a ditch.

Ahem, that lady is my grandmother, a woman of substantial build but, I think, unlikely to have bent the rear wheel/axle. Will dig out the original photo and post as it may be clearer. |

AYD is a Somerset registration issued May - September 1935.
Known to exist are three x PA's with AYA, issued July - Nov 1934 and one with AYB, issue Nov 1934 - Feb 1935, again all Somerset.
Hope this helps from a time perspective. |
