I agree with your view point, but I still can see no sign of wire passing through the firewall after leaving the control box, which can be seen.

The guarantee plate is clear in the J3 as top left, off side, by the support bracket on the firewall. On the J1 and J2's this position is taken by the fuel pump. Another interesting confirmation.
