John, Do you have the 'Dispatch Card' from sales to service. It looks like this.

Simon, I emailed Ms. Sherman back at MGCC and asked if a page is missing as Richard Mobley seems to have the body number (and colors albeit he said B and the hinge reads BK), but either way he would not have known the number unless he had seen the “Dispatch Car” that you reference .

The dispatch card should confirm the colour.

Hello John
I don’t know what Ineke has sent to you but you may wish to ask her to send you a copy of the original MG Car Co handwritten ledger, which may be of help.
We here in the Triple-M register do not have direct access to the production and service records, which is why you’ll need to follow this up with Ineke.
As a matter of interest, these records were salvaged some decades ago from British Leyland trash bins by our respected President Mike Allison. More recently, he compiled a digest of the information therein, and it is that which forms the summary basis of the information I sent to you when we began conversing.
I have no reason to believe that Mike’s transcription is less than accurate! However, do by all means recheck within Ineke in case there is further material in these records which she has omitted to send to you.
Kind regards,
Dick Morbey, Register Secretary PA-PB 0743 Frieth, Oxon, UK secretary@triple-mregister.org |

It does seem odd that the bonnet is stamped BK (black) yet the dispatch card clearly states 'Blue'. Maybe the bloke with the punch got carried away and added the 'K' by mistake?
