Does anyone have a couple of surplus shims for the sector shaft cover plate? This is the cover plate with 3 studs, not the end plate. A 5 thou and 10 thou shim would be perfect.

Why don't you make them from aluminium foil? You can buy some 150mm x 150mm 40 micron (1.6thou) hookah foil, 50 sheets for about £13.00 on ebay So you'd need 3 for 5 thou and 6 for 10. You can cut out direct from the steering box housing using a ball pein hammer. Very easy and with multiple shims you can get the exact thickness you need.
Thank you for the suggestion Angus, but I would prefer to use a couple of shims rather than multiple layers.
