i hope it goes to an enthusiast rather than to someone who then flips it for a profit :)

Indeed, it looks very presentable in the pictures. Does the statement "converted from a two seater to a four seater" imply from an external coachbuilder rather than F2?

'Tis F1310, originally a four-seater tourer, not a two-seater F2 as might be inferred from the description. See also https://www.triple-mregister.com/cardetails_pub1.php?chassisno=F1310

Hence the smaller brakes. Was the body in the picture shown below a previous "modernisation" or from a coachbuilder?

I think the only one that is going to make a profit on this one is the auction house at 30% commission

You exaggerate - it's "only" 29.94%.

More seriously, they quote a figure of 10%+VAT (so 12%) in the description. I have emailed them for confirmation.

There's more on the car on the F Type Magna Registry page which reveals some interesting details:

https://www.fmagna.org.uk/F1310.html

quote:
An 'F1' four-seater Tourer that had previously been modified with swept wings and axles from a 'T' type and a sloping tail - now in the process of being restored to its original form

As Simon notes the car was originally a standard 4 seat tourer. How nice that it has been restored to original rather than being built with a 2 seat body, a fate suffered by so many F and L1 4 seat tourers.

Original 4 seat F and Ls are now quite rare.

Their response:

This lot has a lower premium of 10% + VAT, the-saleroom.com also charge 4.95% + VAT for bidding on their platform.

George,
Does this philosophy only apply to 6 cylinder cars? I see you once converted a four seater P Type into a racer instead of restoring it to its original spec. - https://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=23593

Guilty as charged!
In those far off days the cars were cheap and cheerful.

Sold for £10800 plus commission. Is this an indication of the quality of the car or prices of pre war cars generally?

Wow! That is a very low price for a quite rare 6 cylinder MG! The new owner has bagged a real bargain.

The market for the older cars is definitely slow at the moment. The next generation seem to prefer cars from the 1980/90s such as the sportier versions of the Ford, Peugeot 205 GTi and VW Golf GTis.

My Son-in-Law has a very nice and appreciating Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi.

George.
