Unfortunately, the registration is now on an Audi.

Hopefully that's only temporary as the car was extant in 1978. I wonder what has become of it? Converted to a racer, taken abroad? |

D0334 is not among the survivors on the D Register database...
Pity, it looked much modified but otherwise very clean. |

It looks like the J1 style body was tried at least twice on D-types. D0259 survives. Clearly, at least one J1 had a D-type body such as the example below currently in Australia.

There is an F1 with cut-away doors as well, forget which chassis... |

No discussion on D bodies being used on J1’s but my guess would be that both those D bodies where/are modified originals. Neither have the rounded shape that follows the rear wing.

Hi Onno, I think you are correct about D0334 but not sure about D0259, the doors are rear hinged, I know it is do able but not easy, whereas D0334 has front hinged, a much simpler mod. J0268 was mine 40 years ago, it looks the same as when I had it, with the exception of the wheel colour. Garry |

D0259 is unique in several ways so not just a slightly modified D-type. It is believed to have been a development car.
