I asked a friend, who is a talented amateur trimmer, if she could make me a radiator muff to fit my J2. After providing her with photos of an old Midland version and the suitable materials, I am very pleased with the results so far!
We have attempted to produce a faithful copy of the ‘Midland’ using best quality robust materials throughout; heavy vinyl hooding material backed with insulation scrim and lined with black Dobby. All fittings are genuine ‘lift the dot’ and tabs are heavy leather.
Photos show the first production version and this pattern will fit both J2 and P-Type radiators, and possibly others? … I’m happy to be educated on such matters ;^)
For those of you interested in keeping your radiator warm, we will be making these available in limited numbers once we have fathomed out a good method to attach them to the radiator grille (any ideas most gratefully received!!) and pricing will be £125+p&p
For further details/questions/expressions of interest please ask here or via the personal email address in my forum user profile.
Thanks, Steve

Steve
Looks superb! Can you supply dimensions so that I can work out if it'll fit an F? I suspect not, but will you/your friend produce other designs?
Thanks

If you look at the photos of the original, you will see six eyelet holes, two at the top, two at the bottom and two in the middle.
The muff is attached by through bolts that hook through the false honeycomb (on a P type.)

If you now look on the previous page of the above post there is an enlarged photo of one of the through bolts.

Hi Duncan, As Nigel said, measurements of the original are here, and if it looks like they are close to what you need then let me know and I can measure one for you .... https://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=23288&whichpage=2&SearchTerms=Radiator,muff
Thanks!

Hi Nigel,
Yes, we have the correct eyelets ready to fit as per the original design but still looking for a non-damaging fixing to suit the variations found on our cars ... original and faux honeycomb, modern cores, and aluminium mesh or slatted grilles. It may be that we eventually fit the eyelets as in original 'Midland' design and let people come up with the best solution for their own particular car. Commissioning a small batch of fixings per original is not really viable.
Cheers!

Steve, the end result looks very smart; a great job.
As for fixings I suggest something like the examples below if they can be found small enough.

I have discussed this with Steve and this is the correct forum for this topic even though he is not selling for profit (far from it I understand). Nick
