Hi Again, I’m sorry that my writing “NA 0540 had an Australian built body” has caused such a kerfuffle. I was quoting from an article I have on file that appeared in the Fall 2015 North American MMM Register Newsletter. Clearly additional information has surfaced since then to correct the story. In a way I’m happy that I caused a ruckus because so much interesting additional information has been posted about this car and it’s owners. I support what Lew Palmer has written. He is the authority on Airline Coupe history. Best Regards, Franklin "Dick" Sprafke PA 1623
Perhaps, I should start a new thread, as we have strayed off of the Cowie Airline story. I have a letter with questions and answers about NA0540 given to me by Rod Brayshaw. See the post about NA0540 under this same heading.
Your question regarding Ted's other MGs. He owned the following MGs besides your J2 (2701), but not necessarily all at he same time: D 0351, 2M1706, NA 0540, NA 0956, PA 0466.
Can anyone confirm the original color of PA 1810 when owned by G.B.A. Cowie? When the story about his trip to Vienna first appeared in Beaded Wheels in 1979 all the pictures were in Black and White. See the attached photo. The reprinted (and shortened) version of the story in the link provided below (and in the lead post in this thread in case the below link doesn't work) shows the car in duo blue paint with the picture flipped. Was this an original color picture ca. 1939 or has the Black and White photo been colorized?
