I have just sent a P type diff to Switzerland by Parcelforce . It was returned without leaving the country .The only explanation being that it was unfit to travel by air. The parcel was in a plastic box stuffed with poly beads, all enclosed in a wooden crate. No attempt had been made to open the crate. Parcel force clearly have a problem with diffs!!The bloke in Switzerland still wants the diff so does anybody KNOW of another parcel company with a uk base that will carry diffs ??Geoff
Hi George, Some parcel companies only except. items in cardboard cartons, I occasionally buy theodolites from a dealer in SW England, They can be quite heavy and in that case he lines the cardboard box with 3mm ply to give it the required rigidity to prevent damage.
If using reused cartons be sure that any symbols on the carton are covered as I recently had a theodolite from Germany returned to sender as having a prohibited item in the carton, it was fixed by covering the symbol.
Hello George, A few years ago I sent a pre-selecter gearbox to Charles Jones by DHL in a self made wooden box. It arrived within 17 hours in his workshop. So excellent service. Paul
