Some of you may recall we traced my late Dad's M Type. In more recent times it has been restored to what resembles a factory offering ...but in this old photo of the car competing in a VSCC rally, I noticed how the flat screen and off centre side lights mounting seem to resemble features found on a Jarvis body.
Could I be right, or not?
I have no other photos, so this is all I can post.
Many thanks,
Ray.

Here is another photo. It is not very clear unfortunately. It looks like a standard body and windshield here.

Yes, that was taken after the car had been restored.

That screen is much simpler than the Jarvis windscreens I am aware of

The windscreen in the first picture looks rather like a J2 screen with the strengthened side supports.

Ray If you have the physical photograph, would you please upload it to the website. The problem with posting a link to an image is at some time in the future that link may no longer work and the image will be lost from the archive. If you need help doing that, please let me know. Nick

Ray I have downloaded the picture and enhanced it as best as I can. The image is now stored on the website server

Definitely looks like a J2 screen (but perhaps slightly adjusted better to fit the screen to the Scuttle top?)

It's certainly not a Jarvis body which is clearly shown in Kevin's picture of GP 1856. Distinguishing Jarvis features are the shape of the door with a forward bulge for easier foot access into the foot well, long windscreen brackets and 'wing' nuts for windscreen rake adjustment. UW registration is for London so in an area close to Jarvis at Wimbledon but most Jarvis cars were registered in Guildford with PJ letters and some PL. Rob

Kevin, is GP 1856 in NZ or UK? Do you know the chassis number? It's not listed in my 2019 MMM Register list. You may recall I wrote the Story on Jarvis in the 2011 MMM Yearbook based on an earlier article I wrote in 1975 (MG World/75).

It's a UK car I found on line so can't add any history |

Thanks everyone. At least I can now be sure it is not a Jarvis body.

Back in the day, My Dad and Grandad modified the M Type body with a slab tank to make it look like a more modern MG. The screen could well have come from a J type.

Ray, "back in the day" one of my M Types had a J screen fitted to a much modified home made body. I hasten to add it was not home made by me! Keith
