The attached photo depicts what is believed to be an MG PA Airline Coupe with a T Series grill. Credit to Matt Shepard who first shared this photo and suggested it was taken around 1960 and possibly in London. The registration seems to be CKO 671.
MG Airline enthusiasts do not believe this is a survivor and are unable to identify which car this is. Consequently we would be interested in any information regarding this Airline that readers might be able to share including, but not limited to, its history, owner’s names, and any clues to its current whereabouts or information regarding its probable demise.
Thank You & Best Regards,
Dick

It must be slightly later- the Minis registration is from the 2nd half of 1961 so the photo can't be earlier than that. It is a London Mini though so that adds up |

I have always believed that two TA Airlines were built and think the one in Australia is TA0355 and was registered MG4952 in the UK and the other was in fact TA2210 registered as AMO825. I was told that the body on this car was discarded and the car turned into a T Type racer by the late Freddie Yapp and still exists in this form in Switzerland. Someone shoot me down ???????

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far.
KevinA. Great idea to consider the Mini registration for dating the photo.
Mike Dalby. The Airline I posted is considered a P Type (I said PA but it could be a PB) by the experts I consulted for the following reasons: the number of bonnet louvers, the direction of the louvers, the length of the running board (too short to be N or T type), etc.
Sadly, the Down Memory Lane story has more holes in it than my favorite brand of swiss cheese so that needs to be dealt with in a separate thread.
Mike Gooch. You are on target with your comments and won’t lose that argument. The major questions surrounding AMO 825 are concerned with its origins not its demise. That also requires a separate thread for a full discussion. I’ll follow up with you soon regarding your own car and AMO 825.
Thank you all! Dick

I have enquired with a number of Healey researchers over the years about this claim, and none of them have any records/evidence or mention (apart from this article) of Donald Healey owning such a car.
We are here for a good time, not a long time !. |

If one carefully reads all the correspondence, you will find that it is never claimed that Donald Healey owned this car. Rather Donald Healey's daughter borrowed the car for her honeymoon trip.

John James Thank you for joining in and sharing the article from Totally T Types. In the comments section I note that Don Whitney, son of the former owner, contributed information on the car. In your correspondence with him he mentioned it was his sister Una Louise Whitney, that was married and took the car on her honeymoon. In a separate article (the origin of which is unknown) that I will try to attach, the offer of more pictures of the car was made. Did anyone ever follow up on that offer? If not would it be possible for you to contact Don Whitney to obtain additional photos of the car? It was originally duo green but in the wedding picture AMO 825 seems to have been resprayed a different two tone color scheme. Best Regards, Dick

I thought this was a Triple-M Forum - discussion of T-Type Airline Coupes needs to be taken elsewhere.
Mea Culpa if I had a part in this discussion going further than it should have.

Tony You are correct. It did start out as a misidentified P-type and I find these stories very interesting and educational. None the less, let's leave it there.
