Could anyone suggest which car this might be, and the date & location of the accident?

A quick look in Karl Wiessmann's The Hawke History of MMM Competition Cars shows this to be RA0253 at the JCC International Trophy race at Brooklands on 2 May 1936, driven by Doreen Evans. A well known incident.
