Here is an interesting MG picture, does anyone know where, when and what type APH 566 was? or even if it still exists. The venue looks as if it could be Brooklands, there is something C type about the scuttle but outside handbrake and large brake drums ??

Cheers! Mike.

This is a Riley brooklands chassis with an 18/80 engine, gearbox and axles. The car was still being raced in the 60's . The Riley brooklands still exists and the c type body is now on David cookseys c type (body was owned by Stuart Milton once). David thinks body maybe off jacksons c type as the base colour was white when he paint stripped it. I have several photos of it in the location shown and one when it was being built. Regards oliver |

Do you also know when it was built and where this pic was taken, Oliver?

From today´s view it is interesting to speculate about the motive creating this car. Obviously there was a Riley Brooklands chassis available minus major components - and several major 18/80´s parts were collected too as well as the C-type body. Presumely the creater wanted to combine the best from both worlds. Highly interesting.

There's a photo of the car in its 60's form on eBay, item number 200971911103.. Though the caption of the photo is wrong, oliver |

Oliver Has asked me to post this picture for him as he is unable to do so. The picture shows the 18/18 engine.

I first came across this car in 2007, when I met a former owner, Roland Weeks, who had campaigned it in the 1960s. I then had a letter published in the Automobile seeking more informtion and one of the responses was Ollie Richardson who kindly let me have copies of early photographs. I later received photos of it in the 1960s configuration. Its registrtion number was then TMH105 although it occasionally raced with the number DKW562 which was from the owner's MG VA used as his tow car. It was not unusual in those days to swap registration plates from one car to another, for a variety of reasons! It would seem that the Riley chassis has survived and the MG C Type body (see earlier posts) but sadly nobody knows what happened to the M.G. 18/80 parts.(unless somebody out there knows differently).I subsequently published a more detailed article in the December issue of the Early MG Society Magazine. A couple of photos attached. Regards Keith Herkes

Just noticed in the VSCC Newsletter, that Roland Weeks, a former owner referred to in my earlier post, has died. Another loss to the motoring fraternity. Keith |
