This is a well known photo of the 1935 County Down Trophy winning PA, chassis 0456, registration number CZ 4790.
It was bought by Bob Thredder from Purley some years ago but my attempts to contact him have been in vain. Does anyone know Bob, or the present whereabouts of the car? I'm keen to try and have it return to Ulster next year for the Tour.
So far he hasn't been able to help - hence my opening it up to the wider audience of the Forum.
Indeed the car is, or was in Northern Ireland, well known. I recall it being thrashed around Belfast in the late 60s and then it passed through a number of owners before being sold to Bob Thredder perhaps fifteen years ago or more.
I have just done a Google search on Bob Thredder and I think the one in Croydon is the person you want. He is the person I was thinking of as I purchased some parts from him many years ago. Peter
Thanks, Peter. I'd already done the same search but the phone number doesn't work and from Google Street view it would seem that his premises on Wellesley Road no longer exist. Hence the query on the Forum.
Just to close this thread, I spoke to Bob Thredder on the phone today and he still has the car. Progress on finishing its rebuild is going more slowly than he had hoped but the idea of bringing it back to Ulster next year has spurred him to try and speed things up.
