I'm posting these pictures for the record. Neither MG is listed in the current register. The KN Saloon was owned by the father of a friend of mine (who now owns a TF) in the 60s. What is the big tourer next to the PA? It has been suggested that it is a WA Charlesworth, but I don't think the radiator or wings are right (Glasgow Police owned 8 WA Charlesworths from 1938 onwards, but all registered CGExxx).

If it's 1938 onwards I'd say more likely a Speed 25 - the Speed 20 was pretty much at the end of it's life in 35/36. |

This is probably the definitive answer (if the link works!) About halfway down is a bit about Alvis police cars and even has the same picture but with the MG edited out (cheeky blighters!) but you can still see the shadow of the wing

Colin US7906 is listed at the back of the 1986 Register as PA1469. BUT it is not listed in the chronological list of PA's - very strange ! Glasgow police obviously bought a set of consecutively numbered chassis as the list shows PA1466 as US7903 ; PA1467 as US7904 and PA1470 as US7907 US7906 appears in the 1998 Register as being owned by a D Smith It had a Register number of 2323 - which now does not appear on the Register list.

Tony, I have a 1993 Scottish version of the Register, which shows Derek Smith of Kingskettle, Fife, as the owner of PA1469. As you say, it is no longer listed. Kingskettle is just down the road from me - perhaps should investigate the local barns!

Tony, Back in 1993, Ashley Strachan was chairman of the Caledonian Centre, and Scottish Triple M contact. He was a bit of an early computer geek, and compiled his own version of the Triple M Register featuring only cars that were once or currently known to be in Scotland, with as much history as he could find. This local version has more detail than the full published version. Of course it is now very out of date, but still full of useful information, including full addresses in some cases.
Don't worry about fishy business (Sturgeon/Salmond) north of the Border. We plan to issue special passes to Geordies and Yorkshiremen, and perhaps even Lancastrians, as honorary Scots .
If the sun comes out soon I'm off to Kingskettle to find a police PA!
