Chassis files lost for both cars, however we do believe that PJ 3200 was first on 2M 3101, which is listed as having been completed 23/07/31.
2M 3342 was completed 15/12/31, no reg. number given.
For what its worth, 2M 3135, MMM 262, completed 17/09/31 seems to have had the first 'panelled' body.
Regards, Graham

Thanks Graham.
Has 2M 3342 in affect assimilated the registration number and history of 2M 3101 on the basis of having the engine number MG 3101A?
It is an interesting mystery but if we eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. It is of course impossible that Mr. Sherlock Joslyn Humphries of the Metropolitan Police Force pulled a fast one and created "the definitive example" ...or is it ?................."History would be a wonderful thing – if it were only true."

Interestingly 2M3338[my car] four numbers before yours was first registered in July 1932 So sales must have been very slow - in anticipation of J2's I suppose

Geoff Interesting - where did you get that snippet of information from ? My current registration doc says Jul 1932 However on its 1950's doc.it says 14th March 1932 The 1950's doc also says it is a J1 !!! - but with a M-type chassis number

I was given a buff log book headed 'No2 Continuation Log Book' when I bought my M in 1976. This is stamped as issued 8/01/57 & records the original registration date as 11th March 1932. I assume this was copied from the original log book & is correct although in transferring the engine number they transposed the middle 2 figures so it read 3804A instead of 3084A.
