Hi All
I have 3 bare cast Distributor bodies and they have different dimensions, at first glance they look the same however although the total depth is the same on both, the machining of the casting is subtlety different.
I have attached a rough drawing and hopefully the viewer will be able to identify. The dotted line on the drawing shows the second casting size.
I plan to build a spare Distributor for my PB and although I have a distributor on the car I am not sure that it is the correct one.
Your input would be appreciated.

Hello Russell, I think that you will find that the 43mm distributor (single mounting plate) is the one for the PB. Fitting the 39mm one together with the micro-adjust mechanism for ignition advance/retard (with its two plates) would have the same drive gear meshing as the 43mm distributor.

Thanks Tim and Colin for your replies they have helped considerably.
Next query is what is the correct Dist.Model no. I have one label that says DK4A and another DKH4A.
The "Blower" manual suggests DK4A-ODA-7/1 for PA/PB.
Just one other comment and that is the shafts that I have are stamped 8 degrees, 10 and 14.
I am thinking 10 or 14 please advise if you would.
Thanks again for your input.

Russ , the H in dkh4a just indicates that it originally had a horizontal exit cap. In all other respects it is the same beast. The a suffix indicating auto advance. The other letters are the product code for customers, da for mg, bn for Austin, a for morris , aa for wolseley. These product codes go throughout lucas stuff. Geoff |
