I think I heard recently that more and more classic cars were tucked away in garages never to be seen.

In the glorious weather yesterday afternoon I drove about 40 miles in the P and saw not one classic; no MGBs, no TRs, nothing. Is this to be the norm from now on?

Classics on the road are becoming a rarity - even MGBs in their various forms.

A few weeks ago I drove the BV8 on a round trip of 140 miles, it was on a lovely bright weekend. I was flashed by a tidy looking Ford Escort Mk1 GT, there were no other classics to be seen, but I counted 19 Mazda Mx5s! If only there had been a successor to the Bs....!

Dear George and Forum:

The disappearing classic car theme is echoed here.-North Wales.
As for Mazda they are very visible here too.
Nice modern car on my short list of modern classic cars.
I will continue to drive my Real classic car as her reception is always greeted with great joy!.
All the best.

MX5, the ultimate modern classic !

I confess that as I'm getting older our latest trip to the Mille Miglia was done in the MX5, although we have done it previously in the MGA. The PB has only been as far as Angouleme and that nearly finished me !

Mazda were very astute I introducing their MX5 which was designed to fill the void left when production of the Bs ceased; they have certainly cashed in!

Living on the A44 in a picture postcard village in the Marches, here we get a number of vintage/classic cars passing through most weekends.

Many clubs holding both MSA approved and unauthorized events in Mid Wales.

Unfortunately the non MSA events can annoy people living on the narrow lanes which abound in the area.

Out in the Magna i covered 70 miles on a lovely sunny Sunday in Suffolk only to see a nice MGB roadster and a rubber bumpered Bgt but several MX5's.and several dozen waving motorcyclists.

I suppose it all depends where you go. I was out yesterday in the PA for a round trip of 130 miles and spent five hours in the company of about six other P Types, at least one J2, an NE, three or four assorted Ks, a couple of MGBs and last but by no means least the Monte Carlo NA piloted by Birthday Boy Mike Allison. On the way home I was followed for about 5 miles by a guy in an MX5 and when we parted company at the Shoreham fly-over he gave me a big grin and a "thumbs up".

If you look for other MMM cars, you will find them. The downside is all the wear and tear involved. By the time I come back from Peter Green's party on Sunday, I will see over 15000 miles on the mileometer.

Think Colin is referring to overall mileage since the car went back on road

I know they are not classics but there was also an MG3 and a MGF/TF.

My trundle in the PA to the Mattingley meet yesterday was a modest 60 miles, but a good gathering to celebrate Club Register President Allison's birthday!

Mine would have been 180. Shame we couldn't go to the dentist on a another day!

Today out on the Ashdown Adventurers run, apart from fellow Adventurers I did see a Morris Traveller, a rubber bumper BGT, a B roadster and a parked GT6. I suppose there are still some around, although the run originally mentioned was a glorious weekend day while today well, maybe the owners were using them to go to work?
