I've just spotted this new video and thought you might enjoy it. The car might not be a MMM but the conversation is MG

I'm sure we all keep our cars in similar storage conditions

Thanks for that Kevin. She may not be Triple M, but I'm sure most of we Triple Mers have more than a little affection for the Vintage cars in general and, for my money in particular, the 18/80!

Cheers,

Dave

It certainly is Morgan Marshall’s much campaigned 18/80, known affectionately as KX. Every week the RAC has a car in the centre of their atrium at their headquarters in Pall Mall. The owner of KX who is an Englishman who lives in America, is a member of the RAC. The car is kept in this country and is cared for by a well-known, ex secretary of the VSCC. he was asked to arrange a dinner to celebrate the occasion back in September. Sadly, due to ill health he was unable to do this so the owner asked John Day to make all the arrangements. Representative of all the various clubs, Ian Quarrington, MGOC, EMGS etc. and registers (Vintage, Triple M, V8, Midget and others) were invited, including myself and for the Triple M Register Dick Morbey, we actually sat next to each other.
How they got the car into the building is amazing, especially as the cars are only there for a week before being replaced. Apparently, it all happens between 5.00am and 6.00am on a Monday morning, with a lorry arriving with winches and ramps to enable the cars to be hauled up into the centre, the front revolving doors are removed and then the existing car is removed and loaded onto another lorry and taken away, then the car to be displayed is delivered and loaded into place, the ramps are removed and the doors replaced and it is usually completed about 5mins to 6am. All then is back to normal, phew. It was a memorable evening. I’m told that only one other M.G. has been displayed there, I think it was a K3, but I’m not sure about that.

Opps Nick can your turn the picture round thanks.

There you go John, cropped it a bit as well. You need to clear your cache if you still see it laying on it side.

I like to think Morgan would have just driven it up the steps & through the doors! I have fond memories of him & KX from SW centre events from a youngster to young adult. He was the ultimate enthusiast.

Before the RAC revolving doors were adjusted to make them removable (more than 15 years ago - maybe even twenty plus years ago), cars were actually brought through one of the windows of what is now the Brooklands restaurant!
