I need to make the earth connection from engine to chassis on my J2. Not a big issue and I can doubtless find a method but just wondered where the connection would originally have been made as I haven't spotted any obvious spare holes in the chassis.

In most cases the lower bolt mounting the starter motor to the bell housing is used. The earth strap is then taken to the forward mounting bolt of the firewall bulkhead support stay where it is bolted onto the chassis rail.

Thanks for the answer - that seems ideal. I was obviously preoccupied with looking for a special hole in the chassis!
