And here is race 2.
I've cut some of the "boring" stuff out so it is a bit shorter that the full 15 minutes

Yes well done Onno.
Sorry some of your time on the track was “boring”. Maybe you should have been trying harder !
We all thought the other Dutch car was orange, but how far off we all were,

Regards

That is a truly impressive video - in lots of ways! What speed would that little car be doing along the main straight? It looks like about 200 miles an hour!

boring was meant more for the onlooker, for me even the in and out lap where amazing experiences.
Just had a slight mishap in ordering paint ;-)

John
I have not speedo in the car but the revs in top indicate that I was near or just over 100mph (not even close to the faster guy’s)
My average over a lap was 59mph

No I am not confusing MPH and KPH.
I will admit that figure being based on the speed reading for a given rpm at the roling road.
And just before padock hill bend I was not focused on my rev counter.
But it should not be far off

It looked at least that fast to me. I was interested because I saw that some people were apparently driving standard cars in that race and I wondered how it would feel if I was flat out in my J2 (I have never so far exceeded 65mph) and you came past! There is one moment in the video where that does happen to someone and thanks to the rotating lens geegaw you can see the other driver but not clearly enough to read the terror that must have been on his face! I've decided that watching the video is almost as exciting as being in the race - and immeasurably cheaper!

Congratulations, Charles, on winning the Mary Harris Trophy! And thanks for your kind words, I enjoyed every second enormously! Indeed, even the many laps tailing you ...

Huge thanks to Mark and Duncan for all their efforts to make the weekend so unforgettable.

Although with Onno’s footage it almost looks unnecessary to participate, I can’t wait till the next opportunity. Unfortunately I can’t make it to Cadwell, but hope to be at Snetterton.

Greetings,
Thijs

Getting back to Onno's speed, I think that the official results are very interesting. In qualifying Onno put up best lap times of 1.15.37 and 1.16.98 for the two sessions, which put him exactly in the centre of the field with the really fast boys ahead of him and half the field behind him.

In Race 17 Onno put up a best lap of 1.15.229 with the really fast boys getting well under 1.10 and 14 others behind him including one of the blown Cream Crackers, a pair of C Types and both K3s.

Thijs De Groot is a known qusntity (very fast indeed) and whilst I don't know what maximum speed he achieved, his fastest lap was 1.09.701, only six seconds faster than Onno. Another known quantity is John Gillett's K3030 which qualified at 1.12.001 and 1.12.437 but only managed 1.17.819 in Race 17 which suggests that his car was going off song in the race itself. On a good day, K3030 is good for 115 mph whilst Onno managed to put up a fastest lap 2 seconds quicker. Whilst I wouldn't suggest that Onno's car would get anywhere near K3030 in normal circumstance, I reckon that his estimate of 100 mph cannot be far off the correct figure. For a performance by a driver new to Brands Hatch and a car fresh out of the workshop this is a pretty remarkable performance. Again I say it - well done Onno.

I have to correct myself slightly.
Upon the final calculations I must have been doing around 95mph.
Not slow but slightly off the magic number.
Just shows that roling roads can never be trustet to give an absolute figure.
