After beadblasting my P type's water jacket plates, I noticed that they had pin holes in them. Is it possbile to fix these ? It looks like someone brazed them previously. Is this worth fixing ? If not, does anyone have any used ones ?? Thanks, Dan |

Dan,
Two alternatives: 1) Fill the pitting with braze. 2) Fashion new plates out of 1/16" brass. They won't have the coutour, but they'll be stronger and won't rust.

As another alternative, I made flat brass plates a tad smaller in overall size than my originals (still holding back water but for how long?) and mounted them behind (where they cannot be seen). |

Years ago I bought from a stall at MG-Silverstone two sets of N-type water jacket plates of original shape, but in stainless steel. Can't remember the seller, but how many pennies more would they cost, if the usual suppliers would now use stainless material ? Or is there somebody who hates, when they last for ever ? Gerhard |
