I have removed my Luvax shocks from my P type for checking. One has a good bit of resistance to it still while the other just spins. John R had sent me a prior yearbook article describing how to check them. I am however having trouble removing the pin that connects the arm to the shaft. Also, I know one can remove the back plate to get to the inners but I'm not sure how . Do you press the shaft from the front to the back to remove the back plate ?? Lastly, one of them has a thin piece of steel (like a spring) next to the screw used to adjust. Is this normal or part of the failed inners ?? Thanks, Dan
In all honesty, the best way to restore them is to send them to Peter Caldwell at Worls Wide Auto Parts, in Madison, WI. He did a beautiful job and the cost was very modest.
