The next issue of the Bulletin will, inevitably and sadly, be the Coronavirus issue so It would be good to hear of anyone’s experiences of dealing with the lock-down that involve Triple-M or general points of interest. I have already heard from Graeme Jackson in Australia that running-in his J2 engine has had to be curtailed as the police in Victoria have warned two classic car drivers that their trips are not valid as essential journeys! Also, please use all this spare time to write up those articles and technical notes that you have planned to do for years. Your Bulletin needs you! |

I don't understand the need to curtail "non-essential journeys". How can one possibly harm anyone by going for a run in an open car on deserted roads, without stopping and getting out? At least it stops one getting stir crazy. I believe the need to stop non-essential journeys is mainly to stop people congregating at parks, beaches, and beauty spots. As long as you keep moving, you're bound to remain at least 2 metres from anyone else. /end rant.

I believe the justification is that, in the event of an accident or breakdown, others would be involved which would include close contact. The ban is therefore to minimise this otherwise unnecessary risk to others.

As said by Ian but including, most importantly, if you have an accident there may be an, even small, call on an already overstretched NHS. Don't risk it, stay at home, please.

OK...
How do you sanitise your mail...?
Drpped through your door, touched by others, possibly infected... needs sanitising.
So far I have tried the microwave, don't leave it too long, the freezer... and a spray with hand wash, goes soggy but dries out eventually. Not sure if any are effective.
Have a table inside the front door with hand spray, a tray for purchases and space for the rubber gloves. On entry take off gloves, spray everything and carry on...
Any further suggestions?
Cheers

Keep calm and carry on.. springs to mind
Not all measures are defined as effective by the epidemiologists some are more the effects of political desires to make powerful statments.
Go to the garage --plenty of things on the list of things to do!!
Keep safe wherever you are

Keep calm and carry on indeed. That's how I try to handle our current situation. And in absence of racing video's I've tried to make a little tour of my shed. Hope you enjoy and I'd love to see your sheds/projects https://youtu.be/mJ5ubmHGv6Y

Try ironing your mail - heat is a great virus eliminator.
Apparently you do not need to iron your Financial Times/Sun etc as newsprint ink is a virus killer also |
