Thank you for the great unpaid job you all do in looking after the forum.

Perhaps it is time to remind contributors of the following guidelines set by the committee:

The Register wishes to encourage fair play by all concerned;
3. Therefore please resist the temptation to use the Forum to berate, disparage or defame other people;

The goings on in the Traders section of the forum is a disgrace and falls well outside of the above guidelines. The comments falling outside the above guidelines need to be removed.

As my mentor told me "if I find that you have gone to a pre tender meeting and disparage our competitors whilst you job is to tell the client how good WE are, YOU are sacked"

Service and products are measured by your last sale not by running down the competitors.

regards
Clifford Ross Kelly

Totally agree Clifford. Having worked in IT sales all my career before taking on the currently moribund Guest House, the competition would never be discussed. Sing your own praises so the competition disappears from existence, mention them, and you open the door to them.

When asked about them, simply say, they have a very good product, but let me tell you about... …

This isn't the first time our suppliers have traded insults and accusations, and it's so childish, and quite simply, has to stop. If the traders part of the forum becomes merely a shop window where comments are not allowed they will only have themselves to blame.

Ross, yes me too felt ashamed when reading the TRADERS section in the forum during the past days.

Some while ago I reluctantly set the Traders forum so that all posts had to be moderated, that is all posts have to be vetted before being visible. I did not see the genesis of this latest outburst but was only advised after all the posts currently visible had been made and therefore simply locked the topic. I have now decided to delete all the posts that were unnecessary and inflammatory and hopefully leave the thread so that it still makes sense. I have re-introduced moderation for all posts on that forum to prevent any more similar behaviour.

Thanks, Nick for taking positive action against this infantile behaviour which does damage not only to the image of the Forum but also unsettles everyone who uses it.

It is a sad reflection that what should be a platform for positive and mutual benefit to all members should be tainted with this nonsense.

The moderators do a fantastic job with this forum. It must take an awful lot of their time and I’m sure they could do without the stress and angst of policing threads like the one that developed in the traders section recently.

I use a few different car related forums and in my opinion this one is one of the very best, maybe the best. 99.9% of the contributions from members are positive, helpful and informative. I’ve learned so much from using the forum and made some good friends. For those contributing the 0.01% please just stop and think about what you’re writing before you hit submit.

All the best and stay safe,
Ian.
