I have heard that a new venue is planned for the MMM race in 2009 - has anyone else heard?

The idea was first discussed in 2004 as part of the 40th celebrations of the register but this sounds more serious.

Negotiations with the venue are under way but strict rules concerning the cars entered and laps times required of them.

The venue will be Gatwick Airport, the race run concurrent with daily take off and landings - meaning the cars will have to lap at a consistent 1:42 second intervals to avoid colliding with aircraft taking off and landing.

Good job they've chosen Gatwick rather than Heath Row, I imagine the paddock and pits organisation would be chaotic thre!

I heard on my grapevine that the BAA have named Ms Lirpa Loof as the Clerk of the Course.

Dick

You are mistaken - it will be her father Mr Palir Loof - Lirpa is considered too inexperienced for such an event.

It is quite plane that this is a silly idea that will never get of the ground.

Admitedly the standard J and P types might struggle to achieve the lap time but it will be a challenge to the quicker cars.

Come on guys - it is worth a try!
