Advert states, just the body no chassis, some interesting detail in the pictures, looks a good un, and just up the road from me if anybody needs any help with it.

You have to wonder why it needed to be removed?
Let’s hope someone was just starting a 4 seater restoration and can use this

Definitely looks like a K1 body, I suspect the donor chassis is being converted to yet another K3 lookalike.

If you browse the K1 section one might think slab tank and pointed tail body’s are standard.
Of the few 4 seaters this one looks familiar

As with the ex Peter Mace K1, this looks to be a pretty sound and certainly eminently restorable body. Let us indeed hope someone can use it.
At risk of being controversial, I know you can do what you like with your own car, but I do feel immensely sad when I see a perfectly good and rare car effectively destroyed in order to add to the 33 + ?? K3 population.

I agree Dave - the more so as I have been doing some register work on the KNs, the number of which that have been 'K3d' is eyewateringly high... But, chacun a son gout ...

I didn't look at Onno's link before but, having done so, I'd agree that K0390 is quite a good candidate.

If so, what makes it particular sad in my view is that, looking at the first photo, someone went to considerable trouble to restore the car as a K1 Tourer. What a shame all that effort ultimately has been wasted.

What a great opportunity for someone to convert a K3 look-alike into a genuine and rare K- type open 4 seater with enough room for the whole family!

Over the years I have built two K3 copies/replicas call them what you may, from the remains of KN chassis. In both cases the bodies had long gone and the remains were lying forlorn, unloved and lacking the majority of parts. It was sheer hard work and heartbreaking at times to achieve a lifelong desire to have a car as close to a K3 as it was humanly possible to have. I suspect this is true for the vast majority of K3 replicas that now exist.

Would those who are so disparaging of these cars rather have seen the cars just disappear ? I totally agree it is very sad to see a perfectly good body and such a rare one at that removed from its chassis and it is something I hope I could never do.

I think our movement would be much the poorer without the hard work and dedication of people who have spent years and years of their lives to build these cars which are far more involved than most MMM cars. Some credit and not condemnation is long overdue!

Using just a bare chassis, then accumulating parts to build a car in a particular style is one thing, but completely stripping an original and complete car to turn it into a K3 style car is another. My comments are directed to the latter, an example being a superbly original 4 sear NB requiring a restoration and which a few years ago was made into the style of the K3.
