My Abbey bodied NA registration ARU 90, won a Premier Award in the 1935 Lands End Trial.

Can somebody tell me where this comes in the level of awards?
Thanks
Rod

This equates to a Gold Medal, awarded only to those competitors who climbed all of the hills non stop and who carried out the special tests correctly. There was a choice between the medal and an inscribed ash tray in those days. Your car's award could be still around somewhere.
Congratulations, you have an historic trials car!

Thank you Alan
No sign of the medal or ashtray, but perhaps even better I do have a good picture of it climbing Darracott Hill on April 20th 1935!

The MCC produced a cine film of the 1935 Land's End, of which I have a copy on CD. I will look through it later today and let you know if there is any video footage of your car.

Hello again Rod. I have checked the CD and cannot see your car which was carrying Comp Number 117 (J R Elliott) in the '35 Land's End. Mind you, the camera work was a bit hit and miss and the spectators and marshals kept getting in the way ! If you would like to check it yourself, I will be pleased to send the CD to you. If you know of anyone who can copy CDs you could have that done and then return the disk to me in due course. If you would like this please email me on <colinbutchers719(at)gmail.com> with your postal address.
I hope you are keeping well..
Colin.

Rod, Colin, Alan and Forum:

Was looking on YouTube and came across several MCC films
1935,1929,and 1937. See link below.
Camera work hand held and grainy footage, but this watchable.

All the best.

Thank you very much for looking and your kind offer of the loan of your CD.
I will contact you by email.
John
Thank you too for the link. Amazing how no spectators were killed.
I found my car on there albeit briefly after 8.58mins at a hill restart!!

Tried to take a screen shot, but ended up with a buzzing sound attached to the still picture when I looked at photos. I had to delete the screen shot and close down my iPad to get rid of it!!

Hello Rod,
I have a copy of the 1935 Land's End route card. If you send me an email I will send it to you. Sadly my lack of computer skills precludes me from posting it on the Forum.
Once the pandemic is over you could plan an enjoyable holiday in your magnette following the route. However, I would not recommend driving up any of the sections except Hustyn which is today a very steep tarmac road with interesting hairpins. The present day Blue Hills was not used until 1936 so driving down to it leads you naturally to the original (now tarmac) road that Kimber drove up.
Have fun!

Rod,
If you send me your email address - my email address is in my profile; just click on my name to see it - I’ll send you a better quality version of the photo as it gets heavily compressed when posting on the Forum.

I would like to thank all those who replied to this topic, particularly Colin, Simon, Kevin and Alan.

However my thanks need to be repeated to the Colin, Simon and Kevin, as I found by pure chance on the MCC 1929 Lands End cine film my 1926 Amilcar CGS3 Reg KA 2865 and Colin kindly provided info from Donald Cowbournes book which helped identify the car, Simon who played “whack a mole” and sent me seven still pictures and Kevin who sent me a video clip.

What fantastic and kind help!

Thanks Kevin, and glad to help. For the edification of others, this is one of the 'Whack a Mole' Amilcar pictures. (The Whack a Mole reference refers to the need to react quickly to grab a screen shot of exactly the image required from the video.)
