Does anyone have much history on this car? Chassis J2002 with engine number 509AJ. Any visual story and information on original colors would be gratefully received. About pictures, of course. THANK YOU

Robert, I you can get a copy of the chassis file from the MG Car Club which might tell you what you want to know.

Unknown to the Register Robert, so if you know anything of it it would be most useful to hear.

In the 50s/60s the car was in Edinburgh, broken up/dismantled to support J4205, but the chassis is believed to have survived according to the notes I have. JH |

JH, the J4205 chassis still exists today. There is a new picture of chassis number J4205. But does the J2002 still exist? Is that clear from your records?

John James, thank you. 1st owner: Sherif Huck 1933-1958 after 1/2 year problems with the engine. First rejected by MG (operating error) then repaired by MG under warranty. Can you find or confirm this entry in your records?

J4205 is believed to be in Germany, having been sold by one Brian Rhead in c. 2001. It was reportedly for sale (again?) in 2006

Hello Dick, J4205 on the right with the registration in Germany. Source Oldtimermarkt July 2005. There are several articles in magazines here.

Robert, for J2002 I have the following additional info: By 1958 - Alex Stevenson, Edinburgh By 1960 - Alastair Howatt, Alberta (but may never have actually been exported there because 1964 - David MacDonald, Edinburgh 1966 - James White, Hamilton It's after that when it is believed to have gone in part, or in total to Brian Rhead where engine parts and other bits were used in the long restoration of J4205 (which had the common F**d conversion). Most of this was in Bob Clare's old card index system, the info rooted from the locals when Dad was based in Scotland from 79-82. Is the original J2002 engine in J4205 now Robert? The J2002 chassis still being in Scotland circa 1980 info is/was verbal only I think. JH |

Interesting that J4205 which is shown in a photo with other cars in 2005 is almost certainly not then in Germany, that house looks SO Scottish! What fascinating histories/mysteries these J2's produce. Simon C. |

Simon, yes you observed correctly . The heading "The Highlanders". Only for tough people: through Scotland in a pre-war roadster. Seven intrepid "Authiasts" embarked on a journey of more than 2000 kilometers through Scotland with MG J2, Austin Seven Ulster, Riley Imp and Amilcar CGS, let the wind and rain blow through their faces and returned as "Friends of Scotch Whisky". . Simon, I tried to translate a short text from German into English. The report is exciting to read and covers several pages. Greetings from Austria
