Baynton Jones for go Peter Gregory for show in my view. Peter's cars were usually beautifully detailed and Baynton Jones engineering is unimpeachable.

The red car was built by BJ a few months ahead of mine and since Peter Fenichel had it has been made very different with exhaust, wheels and trim looking shiny.

IMHV pointed tail cars look best.

Paul

IMHV pointed tail cars much prettier but both are great shapes

I have to say in fairness to Peter that I have driven several real K3's and several replica K3's but the very best one mechanically I have ever driven was a replica which Peter built completely including its bored out engine with gas flowed head. It was faster than any other one I have driven and handled brilliantly. When I drove it the mileage was about 1500, the engine was nicely settled in and Peter had just had it set up on on a rolling road. He gave me no rev limit and was happy for me to drive it very hard for about an hour.
Credit where credit is due.

Bonhams did not respond to any queries. It does seem to have dropped off the catalogue now?

The link to the car that I posted on the previous page still seems to be working.

You are correct Simon, it is still listed. Mea Culpa.

I note Terry’s posting about the performance of the Gregory built cars, they certainly performed well in racing, especially the pointed tail K3 rep raced so expertly many years ago by P Walker.

The unavoidable fact is that there are doubts about the provenance of some of the cars Gregory produced.

Guys

Out of interest only. Bonhams have confirmed the knuckle on the car for sale reads KN 0328. They advise that the registration on the documents from Mr Gregory read ELF409 but DVLA have advised that this number is already in use and have registered the car as 256UXS

Bonhams also advise that "The number 567A150KN is stamped on the side of the engine block." which would appear to clash with the MMM Register entry for KN 0322 which is recorded as having engine number 567AKN.

Regards

Tim

ELF 409 of course is the well known KN supercharged saloon, KN0322, which originally had, and may still have, engine number 567AKN. DVLA list 256UXS as an M.G. first registered in December 1935. KN0328 was first registered in March 1935.

George Eagle's comment applies in spades!

Hammer price consistent with estimate which was consistent with description. Buyer is getting a lot car - and a lot of question marks.
