I have two questions. The first is in regards to the engine oil dipstick length. My stick which is broken measures 61/2" with 31/2 in the sump and the rest the handle. I don't know whether it's correct or not. I see that there are two options one longer than the other. Which is correct for PA 2069 and why did the factory change. It appears that the length in the sump is the same for both.
Secondly, Vintage MG offers a nice F2/J2 Spare wheel carrier. Has anyone tried to fit on a p type and why where they specific to F2 and J2 ??
As always, thanks, Dan |

Dan, The exposed length of the dipstick is 3-1/2" long with the full mark at 2". The handle is 3-3/8" long.
You might have a problem using a J2 carrier, although I've never tried it.
I have a spare PA/PB spare tire carrier and aluminum wheel hanger if you need one.

Gentleman,
Further to your posts regarding the length etc of P Dipsticks.
I have a PB and the dipstick does not tally with your comments.
Mine measures 5.75 inches in length. The handle is 2.25 inches and the shaft is 3.50 inches.
The full mark is 1.75 inches from the bottom end.
I had assumed that a PA and PB would have the same dipstick.
The dipstick is an aftermarket spare,I am now wondering if I was sold the correct dipstick and if not what MG does my stick fit?
I note Dan's comment re 2 different lengths, perhaps mine is correct for a PB.
Look forward to clarification.
Regards
Russ

Gentlemen: Thanks for the response. Rich's and his website are always very helpful. I guess I was more interested in why MG changed the length of the dipstick and when was the cutoff. Obviously not too important in the big picture since it looks like the length of the stick in the sump is the same but just curious. Thanks, Dan |
