Hi,
The ends of my axle casing where the wheel bearing locates are quite badly worn so the bearing slops around.

I contacted a local engineering company who offers a repair service, but when I showed them the axle, they said metal spraying it was not possible because of the keyway which would break the electrical contact as the spray rotates.

They offered a welding and re-turning service, but the cost went from the original £100 to between £250 and £300.

Is this a reasonable amount to be charged ?
Seems a lot to me.

Regards
Paul.

I think Tom Dark offers this service as well. Don't know what he charges.
