Good point, well and truly taken Simon. Almost as if that could have been my intention !
I have not been to NI (yet) but from what I hear you have some great Triple-M driving roads and scenery over there.
Beware of Colin's baited hook...that's how he got reeled in.

Spent most the day tending to the J2. The missus says "Suns out, lets have a meal by the canal." Saw this.

Yes it was a fair distance from Kent to Scotland - 430 miles. But it was well worth it and I was glad I was able to do it. The roads had far less traffic more like the 1930’s (?). Plenty of steep Triple-M hills to clime. Yes Scotland was further to travel than to Luxemburg but this event was just right for Triple-M motoring. The south does have some lovely places as well but these have been visited before and the roads are far more crowed. Terry & Bob started this off with the excellent Flat Cap & Whippet events “up North”and Colin and the 2 Ian’s from the Caledonian Centre have taken up the challenge. On these events there is a core of people who regularly participate in these long distance events. One very sad thing was that a fabulous event was planed with most of the work done going from coast to coast. However, this was dismissed by a committee member who I have never seen on these touring events to Luxemburg, France, Holland, or the North. So the organisers just binned this excellent idea and have not organised an event since. I for one am happy to travel North again….regards…. Terry A

Terry, keep your diary free for 20-23 May 2014 for the projected West Highland Stravaig (n. (Scots) An aimless wander).

What route did The Reivers take? It looks almost surreal. I know many people from around the Globe who find the wilds of Scotland absolutely stunning. It must have been a tonic for our lowland friends from Holland. Our ex neighbours were named Beattie, from Lockerbie. A good Reivers name, who "went South!"

This photo was taken looking down on the Talla Reservoir from the top of Talla Linn, a superb 1 in 5 climb (it feels much steeper than it looks in this photo.) between the A701 and the A708.
