Check out Aldi while stocks last. Oven Shelf guards look suitable for use as brake cable boots. £1.99 a length which can be cut to size and will make enough boots for about 4 or 5 cars.Simply slip over cable and superglue join.

Almost as good as BL Metro Tailgate rubbers that were "in vogue" a few years back for the same job!

Or VW gaiters (described as bellows) part number 311 713 269B.
Peter Green gives a good description of how to fit them using a simply made wooden mandrel.
