I just received a virus warning from bob Richards is this true it looks dodgy to me. I don't think bob is aware of it. It's been sent to all his contacts.

You really shouldn't get caught by these nonsense emails

http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_postcard_virus.htm

All they do is spread peoples' email addresses all over the internet.

It's a hoax. Been going since 2008. Google 'postcard scam' and read all about it

Along with everybody else I have had Bob's dire warning.
I too have a close connection in Microsft and am currently checking with him the veracity of this warning - will keep you posted.
Also MMMers - if you are forwarding on messages, please remove the sometimes long lists of peoples e-mail addresses before you send the message on
I for one, certainly do NOT want my address passed to all and sundry around the world

Good point Tony
As a general rule, if anyone wants to send an email to a number of people and not share email addresses, instead of entering the addresses in the "To" box, put them all in the "Bcc" box, that way, each email will only contain that one address and none of the others.

The official answer from Microsoft is that it is a fake.

Yes Tony has a very good point. I had received the (now apparently hoax) message from what I thought was a reliable source and thought it better to advise people than wish I had after damage had been done. I must admit the fact that I was circulating a list of addresses did not occur to me. My apologies to all for my lack of thought - a lesson has been learned.

Don't worry, Bob.

I have fallen for this in my time as well!

Regards
Dick
