It's hard for me to remember. Member Orstin now owns my J2, but the hood followed the pattern un the Octagon Heaven articles. On the P, I'll be putting a seam along the line of the rear bow as far as the top corner. I will not be attaching the top to the bows as I want to be able to remove it. I believe there is a seam line along the front bow as far as the top corner to where the two bows meet. I will only add that if I can't get a snug enough fit without it. It is shown on some cars but not all.

I'll pop out and have a look at how Lew put the hood together, but you'll have to wait for the weather to improve a bit for me to push the car out of its house and take some photos.. seems to be the appropriate choice of smilie!!

Thanks Lew and Orstin. The seams I'm referring to are clearly visible in the photo I posted at the begnning of the thread and similar seams are apparent in any factory photos I've seen of the J2 or the F2 so that seems (no pun intended!) to be the way they were made.

Are copies of the George Jarrard "J2 Compendium" still available?

There are certainly PDF copies around but I've no idea whether it's appropriate for them to be put on the Register web site for downloading.

Which is why I wonder if it would in fact be appropriate for them to be hosted for free on this site.

Thank you Carl, send them to me. I will try and check if there is any restriction on us publishing the document.

Poor old George Jarrard, he amassed all these details for his J2 only to loose it in a divorce...he then moved to Maine. I suspect he is dead now. I have a copy of his loose leaf version and a bound copy from Britbooks. I doubt there is any copyright issues...I've lent both to my friend here, Fred Loeser who has been restoring his J2 for over 52 years!!

For someone just heading into the serious part of a restoration, I am very grateful to see these pictures as they will undoubtedly guide me in making decisions being informed, rather than guessing. Below is a picture of PA 0921 as I found it in a barn in 2009, undisturbed since 1986. I'm sure many of you will identify some non-original bits, but for someone less informed, observations are turning into surprises, and I have a lot more work ahead of me than I had imagined, despite the car looking quite nice when I bought it.

I've just turned 80 but fortunately, I have some good help available.

On my Macbook air (aug 2012) I can save a page including photos by adding it to my reading list. Turning off my wifi I can then open the topic page I saved and the photo is there.
