Hi Roman

Unfortunately this car does not appear in the 2012 printed Triple-M Register.

Our Rgistrar Robin Hamblett may have some information as might Mike Dalby who has a lot of information on M types - he posts on this web site as Mike the M.

Hi Roman
I know very little about M-types but from those pictures I see that none of the instruments are correct. Just something to factor in.

But it does have the right shaped body - so many reproductions don't get the tail right. In fact, I did wonder whether it might mean it still has its original bodywork. Overall, I thought it looked quite reasonable. It has a couple of odd things, like external door handles and an external fuel filler cap, which I think are wrong - and like Nick, had noted the incorrect instruments, but it looks like it has the correct switch gear which is very difficult to source..

So many dynamos

Looks like a complete rebuild to me, chassis guarantee plate not correct pattern to match quoted ch. no.& it and body plate appear to be repro's,
The rear valances seem to be missing. The BF registration code was in Germany at one time the British Forces Germany identifier. Can't read eng. no. on the plate but it appears unusual. Gear lever appears to be Minor "wand" not remote control for 4 spd. What do others think?

Just found out how to make photo bigger! 946 is stamped on plate for both body no. & eng. no. M-type ch. no's. dont start MG as plate, of course. Rear no. plate is on German side.....?

The best m type on the market at the moment is one for sale by andy king its been made into a Le Mans rep but is a very tidy car. All the other cars arnt quite right and needs lots of money spending on them by the looks of them. On two of the cars the instruments are really poor they have just thrown anything in. If they have done that on the instruments you don't know what the rest of the cars like! They have probably thrown anything in the engines so I would run a mile. The one andy king is selling looks as if its had a lot of money spent on it. It's a few grand more but you get what you pay for.

The most original of the three appears to be the green BF car. The red car seems to have a J type radiator and strange headlamps and I think I spotted various other incorrect things. The black one appears to have a modified body.

One of the most important things about these cars is the crankshaft. The originals were rather weak and you can get fully balanced replacements and modern conrods. These would put up the value of the car considerably.

Good luck

The red car Roman may well have original engine & running gear. I wouldn't care to comment. Beyond that, the only originality would appear to be that it has 4 wheels. Body, radiator, tank, doors,.......

Also M Type people, is the track rod bent or are they normally like that?
