On my PA Tourer I have a spare wheel spinner that does not have an MG badge. My ‘garage man’ says that the small raised button on the spinner is covering a depression where the badge would have been fixed with a spring. According to him this allowed the driver to move the MG badge to the correct position once the spinner was tight. In the MG spares book (page 48) for the car, it has the MG Medallion, the centralizing shaft and the tension spring BUT it says that these are only for the 2 seater and not the Tourer. Whilst I have no reason to doubt this (and it is supported by various period photos) I have seen many 4 seater PA’s for sale with a badge. What’s the view please – Badge or no Badge?? |

Hi Keith,
My PA 4 seater never had one, it had been off the road since 1961.

Hi Keith
I used to own a PB 4 seater and I believe it did not have a badge.

Keith,
My PA 4 seater (my first Triple-M car from nearly 50 years ago ) did not have an MG badge nor any facility for fitting one.

A fried had a 4-seat tourer back in the 70s and he gave me its spare wheel spinner a year or two ago. It does not have a badge!

My PB Airline came with the spinner but without a badge, except for an incorrect one that was glued on. However, every other Airline I've seen had one, so I drilled the spinner and fitted a badge along with the locking shaft and spring.

Thanks for the comments - clearly 'no badge' wins! So be it. Keith |
