So we now have 8 M types that i know of Cheers Pat
M3207 was purchased by Peter Briggs in Western Australia for his museum in 1981 and the car now resides in Queensland. If you happen to have any NZ history on this car then I could pass that onto the current owner. The car was reputedly restored in NZ light blue with black guards.
Hi Pat, I am intrigued by the M type you have described as "Roding". Do you know any more about this car? It is possible that it is a car that I used to own which I sold to a New Zealand friend of mine who took the car back to NZ and rebuilt it. His name was Murray Watson who died some years ago. I believe this car and a J4 replica that he owned may still be with Murray's widow. I used to live in Leaden Roding and it seems possible that he named the car Roding. Can you add any light to this? Keith
Yes this is the car but it was sold some years ago after Watson's death. I understand it went overseas, it was sold by McGuinness Classics when they were in Wellington.
Hi Team . I dont have any other info on 2M 2299. It was on an old MG registar. so have the engine number thats all. I saw RODING when it was forsale down at paraparaumu along with the J4. It had a custom body and was painted powder blue so was the J4. I think that the J4 rego was ROD1NG. Getting old and i forget some info.. But when Rob said about it some info comes back.I thought that the J4 went overseas but didnt realise the M went as well.. Thanks everyone . Still a work in progress. Cheers Pat
Pat, We met at Taupo just recently during your "MG National Meeting". I have M2737 which I bought in the UK some years ago. It is very original and could have been owned by someone who didn't come back after the war. It still has the original fabric covering. It goes very well, no wonder they were so popular and set the scene for what was to come!
Hi Tony there apears to be no infomation on 2M 3440 on the copy that i have. I thought that 3440 was quite a high number for M,s. any way yes Taupo was a great deal of fun. Cheers Pat
