Hi,
I'm based just outside London and currently working on restoring a 1933 J2 MG with my father. We are at the stage where the engine needs re building and although we probably have the skills to do so we thought this could do with an expert. We have all of the components, however i would assume a few may need replacing but on the whole everything should be good to use.
We would like to know if you could recommend a person / company that would be suitable for this type of work. As i'm sure many of you understand from experience you find names here and there but unless you have a recommendation its hard decision to make especially as its such an expensive process.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. I hope to hear back soon.
Cheers,
Richard |

I too will need a recommendation . The only person I would trust down here in the south is Robin Lackford, he has completed stirling work on our MGB.

Tim Miller down here in Somerset did my J and it goes beautifully.
Unfortunately he is about to start work on my Stiles body so I am not giving out his address, at least, not just yet!
Cheers

I am very surprised that Oliver Richardson has not been mentioned. He has rebuilt my engine and it sounds fantastic. He was recommended to myself by a number MMM's. Can't speak to highly!

I echo the recommendation of Oliver Richardson. He built the superb engine in my J2 also. He is always busy but is worth the wait, if you can. Oliver can be contacted on 07810 880818.
Regards

I'm getting to grips with my late M body frame at the moment and will be doing Peter L's Stiles. Finishing off the rebuild of an Alvis 12/50 engine too so I am happy to talk J2 engines. My waiting list isn't huge so if you want to enjoy this summer ( if it eventually comes) in your MG then give me a call. I'm in South Somerset . |

Hi there, conscious that this thread is now a little old, I am looking for a suitable engine rebuild workshop in the South of England that would cater for a J2 complete engine rebuild, any recommendations welcome, many thanks
