Hi Guys, just going through last prep for my first race. Maybe this will help anyone else new entering the fold!

I think I ve covered everything....any tips hints on things the scrutineers look for above and beyond a sprint or Hill Climb?

Fire Ext Serviced
Rain Light
Catch Tank
Sump Wired
Fuel Filler cap wired
Tow Points marked
Gap between Firewall and Gearbox filled
Helmet, Gloves, Boots, Suit up to date (Optional Fire proof undies!!)
ARDS, Medical and License
Various bits checked over winter, Like drop arms, wheels, brakes.
Greased, Oiled and Watered!
Extra rear view mirror
New Rear Tyres
All wheels rebalanced, tracking checked
Silenced to 105db
Mounting point for transponder

I m going to run the car stripped on March 29th, I m assuming this doesn't make any difference to things I need to do?

Any advice would be great. Excitedly nervous!

The last time my car was scrutineered by the MGCC I was told " don't know why you old car lot bother to bring the cars over may as well just bring your helmet and overalls"!! Requested nicely to him that id be more satisfied if he checked basic safety points

Just to let you know ... One way or another the Register is covering the cost of transponder hire for Triple-M entrants in this race, so that's at least one little saving ...

Mark,

I can't claim to be 100% up to speed with the latest regs, but you do need:
- all drain plugs wired (i.e. not just the sump)
- a 2nd throttle-return spring
- power shut-off clearly marked ("lightning-bolt" triangle thingummy) & possibly a fuel shut-off too?

Thanks Chris

Yup spring ok, I lll look at other plugs.

Does the ignition switch count as a cut off? Has done on hill climbs.

I don't have a fuel cut off... I ll check the blue book on that one.

Thanks

Ignition switch is fine for the power cut-off - just needs labelling as such.

I don't believe the fuel shut-off is mandatory - best to double-check, of course.

Sounds like you're good to go.

Looking forward to it!

Hi guys

I will be at silverstone doing my usual mgcc safety car duties. If anybody would like to borrow my transponder for the day please get in touch. I have just put it on charge as it hasn't been used for a couple of years

First come first served

No problem mark

I've sent you an email with my mobile No.

Phil

PS remember to mount the transponder as close to the front of the car as possible in case of a photo finish!

Phil , you are giving away all the secrets ! These youngsters should learn by experience . You will be telling them next to look out for the lights at the start , not the flag !

Fred, there are lights at the start? That might explain my poor starting record!

Not such a good idea Mark. On my first visit to Brands Hatch about 50 years ago, I thought I would follow an expert - one Tony Dolton, you may have met him. He took off like a bat out of hell, with me folowing him, . Result, I almost fell off going down Paddock Bend !
