I was browsing the web and came across an auction for a 4 seater PA (see http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C517785 ) and was surprised to see that it suggests that there are only 5 left.
Surely this can't be correct. I know of one in my garage and have seen reference to a number of others. Is there any way of knowing how many survive?
The advert must be wrong, I am not at home so cannot check the printed Register but there must be many more PA 4 seaters extant!
Peter and Dave each have one, and Ian Willis has just rebuilt his so that makes 4 including the one advertised! Add the one referred by Bob and we are up to 5.
It was the same for an ND recently advertised, the number of survivors was understated.
There are several 4str PAs that I know of running around up here in the top half of the UK, including one that was John Thornley's former 'company car'. Some dealers and auction houses seem to make it up as they go along, anything to entice the unsuspecting into a sale. The recent ND that George points out not only had the numbers understated but it's recent restoration history grossly overstated.
I know of all the legal arguments against the Register naming and shaming but it is a thriving time for rogues and a great shame nothing can be done about it.
...and Bryan Ditchman is rebuilding the PB works demonstrator 4 seater, and there is another PB 4 seater in Cambridge...and my old PA 4 seater is alive and well in The Netherlands.
