Hi
I have been hard at work with my MMM dealership research, I should have some information on Rice Brother's (Horsham) coming in the post very soon. I have also had the privilege of speaking to some relatives of dealership owners. One such, is a relative of Rowland & Harris founder, he has provided me with a wealth of information on the history of the dealership and his personal experience of MG's.
He has sent me information relating to M type FV 1422 and N-type Magnette APL 265, I wonder if somebody could tell me if either still exist.
Thanks

Matthew,
Congratulations on all of your work in this regard. Perhaps you should consider submitting an article to either the Bulletin or the Triple-M Yearbook.

Thanks Lew,
I am getting a real sense of enjoyment out of doing the research, I'll certainly consider submitting an article, at the moment it is just weekend research due to work commitments but I intend to make it very comprehensive, so the more people that can get in touch with details of their car the better.
Thanks

Nothing on the register for either car, at least under those registration numbers...

For us on the other side of the ponds, it would really help to have chassis numbers, if available. UK registration numbers mean very little, or nothing, to us. I know, chassis numbers not always available, but would help greatly locating cars. Bob, Canada

Matthew, Are you interested in all pre-war MG dealerships? If so I can direct you to stuff on Cresta Motor Company of Worthing who originally sold the Bertelli bodied N Types of which I have an example (NA 0934) which I have rebuilt. Cheers, Bob Clare |

Firstly thanks Graham for seeing if the car's still exist, I think I might invest in a copy of the register.
With regards to Bob Grunau's query, unfortunately for these particular car's I only have the registration numbers.
Thanks Bob Clare for letting me know about your car and the links to Cresta (which I have on my spreadsheet) but as yet I don't have any information on them, so anything would be gratefully received.
Just for the purposes of the spreadsheet record, was your car distributed by UM for example and then supplied by Cresta.
Thanks once again for all your support and input.
Matthew

Matthew Listed in the back of the 1934 Instruction Manual for the N Type are the MG Distributors and Dealers together with Lucas depots and radiator repair companies. I assume it is the same in other manuals? Having said that Westcliff Motor Stores Ltd. 282 Station Road, Westcliff-on Sea, Essex who supplied my 1934 N Type NA 0373 ( LN 4402 )are not listed but Fogdens Ltd. 831 London Road, Southend-on-Sea who dealt with guarantee claims from Novenber 1934 are, although at a different address. I assume Westcliff were no longer dealers by that time.

Hi Ken
Thanks for letting me know about your car I will add it to the spreadsheet, just for completeness do you know the date of supply?
With regards to the instruction manual, I did stubble across a scanned copy of the 'MG Midget Manual' online. It has been a great source of information when populating the spreadsheet.
Hopefully I will be updating my main topic 'MMM dealerships' with some historic information from a dealership very soon.
GENERAL AMENDMENT - Apologies, I just re-checked the information on a hunch, and low an behold I miss typed the M - type registration it should have been FV 1244, any chance it does still exist after all?
Thanks once again

Yes FV 1244 has chassis 2M 1267, 2 seater red, built 20 March 1930. The chassis files say R.B.C.(not sure who this is) then New Bridge garage, Preston and sold to a K. G. Price. Hope this helps.

Hi Ken & Mike
Thanks for the information on your car Ken.
Thanks also Mike for the further detail on the M, by pure coincidence, considering the information has travelled from N. Ireland the M-type has a local interest for me personally as I live relatively close to Preston.
Pure speculation as to R.B.C but could it possibly be Ribble Borough Council (unsure if they were even in existence then.)
Thanks once again
