The car is known to the Register and carries the Register number 1909. It is described as being ex 4 seater.
There was obviously a batch of PA 4 seaters built as all PAs listed between chassis PA1239 and PA1286 in the Register are described 4 seaters.
My first MG PA1248 - now the Bonda Primer XPAG engine special - is amongst this series!

The PA is now on Prewarcar.com where, despite George's claim of missing bodywork and a new block, it is described as a 'matching numbers' vehicle.
How many of the many MG build-sheet numbers need to match to enable this description for a car?
Over to you, chaps!
Bob.

I do not think it can claim to be an original 'matching number' car if it does not have its original body or cylinder block.

Peter.
The ad quotes 'new block fitted to the original engine', or something like that. On this basis, would that not still be an 'original engine', on the principal of the axe with two new heads and three new handles?
I have a vested interest here, my car's block was replaced in 1945 at Abingdon, and I have assumed that all the remaining bits that haven't worn out are the originals. I believe there are identifying numbers but I have never found them!
Regards, Graham
ps I'm not sure I'd put the original crank and rods into a new block, but front and rear housings may count for something!

George,
The first sentence of the auctioneers description of PA 1262 says ".... this delightful matching numbers PA ...."
