As much as I would love to own and restore it. I could just imagine his face if he came home and saw it on the drive.
A couple of years in the future maybe....

When I bought my J2 in the 70's I didn't own a house and I could barely afford the $1750 USD, never regretted it for a moment...Go for it! Your father will come around!

In a few years the project asking price will be higher again so can you afford it then? 5 years back the going rate for a triple M project was 10K.....

Having bought my J2 as my first own car 10 years ago, today I can say it was one of the best things I did. Wouldn´t change it for anything else in the world. However, if I were you I would start trying to get a good rolling chassis and then building the car up over the time. You are not spending the big amount of money at one time, you can "stretch" the project as funds permit, you are kept involved, take your time in building it up, deciding on your own specification and finish and, most important, you know what you have built.

Thanks for that idea Christian, I think that this is the way forward for me personally at this stage, at least then I will keep my Dad happy saving in part, whilst building up a stock of components. I'm under no illusions it will take me years to collect components, but I give it my best shot.
Thanks

I believe this MG J2 has been sold. It was owned by a Motor Museum in Betws y Coed in North Wales and when I spoke to the owner he said it was sold. Cars like this do not hang around long Ralph |

If it helps. I repatriated our J2 1933 cycle wing ( dismantled ) from Cyprus two years ago. A neighbour who is an MG enthusiast offered me £12,000 for the car as it stands ( packed in 13 boxes ) and a chassis.
