Does anyone know if there are any drawings of the ' Mulliner ' J2 bodytub ?
I believe that I have all the dismantled remains of one.
Thanks

Richard Hardy wrote this in a post in 2007 (triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=1002&SearchTerms=mulliner)
"Posted - 04/01/2007 : 15:41:59 There were two original suppliers of frames I seem to recall namely Mulliner and Carbodies.
There are two main differences between them. One type had extra but shorter lengths of timber over the rear wheel arch section. More importantly for you however if you are repairing the lower sections, one type of tub had a solid timber extending down the full depth from the main horizontal body iron timber to the bottom body line. The alternative design and mainly fitted to swept wing cars had a shallower bottom timber which was separated from the body iron timber by a block at one end with the timber tapering up towards the scuttle end.
Having built and repaired several bodies of both types I have detailed photographs of each if needed. If so, please email me at richardhardy@york100.wanadoo.co.uk

Chris, I have an A0 drawing which shows all the detail and there are drawings in Octagon Heaven (Technical Article 189 and 203). The drawings in 189 are reproduced from the same drawing I have at A0 size, and are allegedly copies of a factory drawing. This drawing matches exactly with my original Mulliner body tub except for the orientation of the rear body mounts. The only omissions on the drawing are the two metal scuttle support/strengthening brackets. Of course as we have already discussed, the door catches were also different from those fitted to tubs from Carbodies.
I recall there might also be a drawing in MG Road Cars but I don't have my copy to hand at the moment.

Good Morning,
what do you think to scan that DIN A0 size drawing, some copy shops have situable scanner for that size of drawings. Or is someone out who has such a scanner and can do the job. May be there could be such a copy shop in Falmouth? Nick could than copy the scan of the drawing in the thecnical documents. cheers Carl J2 4362 L2 2036 |
